Gibson made 4200 violins from 1939 thru the early 40's when at war with Germany, so imports from Germany ceased. This particular one is good quality with a nicely flamed back. One flaw- someone tightened the chin rest too tight which can be seen in the pictures.  A good student model  with decent tone.
